Ammonia Free Color

Man hair color has come a long way from when I first started! 15 years ago color had such strong ammonia smell that some clients would want to put a towel over their face to not breath in the chemicals. And as hairstylists were just over here huffing it all in and not thinking of the long term effects. Is there long term effects?

I don’t know! But I don’t think it’s great for us. Especially as hairstylist who are around chemicals everyday all day.

I’m glad that there is more information to products in the world that we can choose from that have a more gentle approach to the environment and our bodies. So as I start to rent my own space and control what products I use I’m also choosing to use better products for my body, the environment and my clients!

Among the many new color lines available I chose to use EVO color from Australia. They’re committed to reducing their carbon footprint while meeting environmental standards. The color line is beautiful and all the outcomes I’ve had cover gray %100 while also being rich and shiny.

EVO - Hue Verse

Formulas are free of ammonia, pdd and resorcinol and have been packed full of organic oils, plant-derived glycerin and allergen-free fragrance.

As an independent stylist It would make more money sense for me to use a cheaper color line. But I’m choosing instead to be bougie and offer a higher end product that is more expensive. Because it’s better. And hopefully my clients appreciate that and I’ll attract more clients that are looking for salons that offer ammonia free color in Los Angeles. Cheers to doing hair better!
