Partial vs Full Highlight

I’m going to outline the three very basic appointment types to going blonde. Partial highlight, full highlight and transformation!

Note: that for me personally my prices are the same for highlighting or balayage.

Because of the new wave of darker root blonde I feel like a lot of people get confused on what is included and what they should be booking to achieve certain looks. This article will cover the types of blonde coverage. However, with any of theses looks once you want to cover gray hair at the roots you will need to add a base color service in addition to the highlighting/ balayage service.

Partial Highlight

This is absolutely the most common type of highlighting appointment. Most people will do a full highlight maybe once or twice a year but any other appointments will be a partial highlight to maintain the look and upkeep the most obvious grow out seen which is the top of the head, the sides above the ears and of course the hair around the face.

Partial Highlight:

Top Mohawk section, above ears, and around face placement.

Price: $230

Time: 2 1/2 hours

Full Highlight

Full Highlight as mentioned is a placement of foils on well, the full head! It is a partial highlight but also includes the back of the head all the way to the nape of the neck. This is the first service to going blonde for most people. You will be amazed at the amount of blonde achieved from a basic full highlight or balayage.

Full head highlight foil placement

Full highlight foil placement:

Price: $330

Time: 3- 3 1/2 hrs

Full Transformation/ Color Correction

This is a full highlight …Plus! That is either a full head of back to back foils or a full highlight WITH balayage in-between to lighten ends even more. This category can also include when someone is trying to get to a double process bleach and tone look. This is the first step to getting to a Marilyn Monroe look before the maintenance of a simple bleach and tone at the roots.

This category for me is a color correction on my service menu because it can be very involved. Lightening hair can be aggressive and damaging to the hair. I usually recommend easing into a blonde look. However if someone is committed to becoming a full blonde and jumping in then this is absolutely possible. This transformation can take anywhere from 4-8 hours! A lot of very detailed continuous focus time if needed for this. Please book a consultation before to discuss a day and price.

Full Transformation Blonde:

Price: $120 an hour

Time: 4-8hrs

Face Frame Highlight

I’ve added a sneaky lil option on my service menu for a face frame highlight. This is for people who want that “ Money Piece” mentioned on instagram so much. It’s a pop of blonde or just lighter color around the face which can be a stand alone service or added to a base color service so that even my brunettes and red heads can get some brighter sun kissed pop of brightness. If you’re already blonde and wanting to let your roots grow out a bit for depth this is also great to make the grow out look intentional.

Blonde around the face creates softness, draws attention and can even camouflage grays for a softer color outgrowth.

Mini Face Frame highlight:

Price: $130

Hours: 1 1/2
