Platinum Blonde
The Process:
The first visit is essentially a color correction. A Transformation of blonde! When you see “ Double Process” Or Bleach and Tone” on a service menu it is always for a retouch or short hair. Any length of hair longer than a couple inches needs a color correction first before the maintenance of a normal double process.
1: This is a process of back to back foils focusing on the midsection and ends of hair.
2: Then either rinsed or pulling the foils lower to then lighten the roots.
3: And the final step is to tone the hair to the desired vanilla or platinum blonde tone you want.
Maintenance
Once you achieve a solid platinum blonde the maintenance to retouch is suggested every 6 weeks. Any longer than this and the the process becomes more involved and may incur extra cost of time and product.
NOTE: Because of the heat from the head processes lighter faster at the first inch of hair, the roots are done last to avoid any breakage. A regular schedule is needed to maintain easy visits otherwise you run the risk of “banding” and additional color correction type issues.
Everyones hair is different
Sometimes it’s done in one session and sometimes it takes a few sessions. It all depends on your hair, how dark the starting point is and if there is pre-existing color to break through.
Alternatives?
for clients who are already naturally light brown or blonde can include a blonde color at the roots in addition to a full highlight or balayage. The maintenance then being a color at the roots instead of lighter which can be much less expensive of a salon service as well as more gentle on the hair.
